Meet the partners of BC-ETS 01

An initiative such as the BC – Experimental Testing Site would not be possible without the involvement of major partners who, in support of the advancement and innovation of such a complex field as foundation engineering, contributed materials, resources, manpower, and time within a collaborative environment.

Meet below the companies and individuals who made the BC–ETS 01 possible.

Damasco Penna has operated in the geotechnical engineering market for more than 40 years. Founded by engineers Antônio Sérgio Damasco Penna and Yara Monteiro de Arruda Damasco Penna, the company is recognized for technical excellence and ethical standards. Its services include geotechnical investigations, instrumentation, geoenvironmental investigations, mineral exploration drilling, as well as design and consulting.

Contribution to BC-ETS 01: through Fernando Damasco Penna, the company promptly joined the initiative, providing pressuremeter testing (PMT) and executing drilling and borehole preparation for crosshole seismic tests.

FG Empreendimentos is one of Brazil’s largest and most respected construction companies. Headquartered in Balneário Camboriú, Santa Catarina, it was founded by Francisco Graciola and, together with his son Jean Graciola, has delivered high-end real estate developments, including landmark high-rise buildings. The company is noted for innovation, quality, and a structured approach to sustainability.

Contribution to BC-ETS 01: under the leadership of Director Jean Graciola, with engineers André Bigarela and Stéphane Domeneghini and the engineering team, FG enabled the implementation of the experimental testing site on company-owned land and invested in on-site testing activities.

G2Base is a construction technology company within the Gerdau Group, focused on integrating and industrializing the steel foundation value chain. It streamlines foundation delivery through advanced technology, innovative methods, and integrated management systems.

Contribution to BC-ETS 01: led by Executive Director Marcelo Baldino and Engineer Dirney Cury Filho, G2Base supplied approximately 100 m of steel H-sections to serve as reinforcement elements in the high-performance continuous flight auger (CFA) pile program.

Incotep, a Brazilian company of the Açotubo Group, develops and manufactures high-quality prestressing and anchorage systems for geotechnical and structural applications. Founded in 2002, it provides customized solutions for varied geological conditions, supported by ready-to-deliver inventory and technical assistance.

Contribution to BC-ETS 01: the company supplied more than 200 m of INCO50D bars for instrumentation of piles in compression and over 100 m of INCO70D bars as structural elements for tension piles. We thank Douglas Oliveira, Ariadne Fliesser, and Marcelo Starling for their prompt collaboration and generous material donation.

Max Mohr is a Brazilian company specializing in mortar and concrete technology, founded in 1969 by Max Mohr in Blumenau, Santa Catarina. With over 50 years of experience, it is a regional reference for quality and continuous innovation, operating 12 units and employing more than 350 professionals. Recent efforts include COâ‚‚ reduction initiatives and digital transformation.

Contribution to BC-ETS 01: through Operations Director Rafael Brizot and Commercial Manager Everton Münch, the company promptly supported the site by supplying more than 100 m³ of special concrete.

Solo Sondagem, founded in 1984 and headquartered in Balneário Camboriú, specializes in geotechnical drilling and investigations, with more than 16,000 campaigns completed across Brazil. Over 20 years ago, the company pioneered the widespread use of the Cone Penetration Test (CPT) in Santa Catarina.

Contribution to BC-ETS 01: the company performed SPT and rotary drilling, CPT and SCPTu, DMT, and vane shear tests, as well as undisturbed Shelby tube sampling. Carlos Roberto Machado and Thiago Philipps Machado promptly volunteered to execute the testing program, recognizing its importance for the initiative.

Solugeot is a geotechnical testing company based in Itajaí, Santa Catarina, founded in 2015. It provides high-quality services including instrumented static load tests, dynamic load testing (PDA), and pile integrity testing (PIT). The company also executes static load tests using reaction systems with helical steel piles, which improves execution efficiency and significantly reduces carbon emissions compared to conventional reaction systems.

Contribution to BC-ETS 01: led by Director and Engineer Paulo Sedrez, Solugeot supplied the full suite of onsite tests, including instrumented static load tests in compression and tension, as well as PDA.

The Soil Mechanics Laboratory at UFSC, located on the Joinville campus, is a center of excellence equipped for soil characterization, including triaxial compression, direct shear, and consolidation testing, and staffed by professors, researchers, and specialized technicians.

Contribution to the experimental program: under the leadership of Professor Marcelo Heideman, the laboratory conducted triaxial and consolidation tests associated with the experimental field, ensuring high-quality results and supporting innovation in geotechnical engineering.

União Fundações is a foundation contractor with a primary focus on continuous flight auger (CFA) piles. Based in Santa Catarina and active for over a decade, the company has advanced construction techniques, opening the CFA market to drilling in dense soils (SPT-refusal conditions) and fractured rock. It operates two of the largest CFA rigs in Brazil.

Contribution to BC-ETS 01: the company executed all piles at the experimental testing site. The presence and contribution of Director Robson dos Santos and Engineer Tercio Barduzzi were fundamental to the success of the program.
